New York State Winery of the Year: Coyote Moon Vineyards
06/15/2016
Coyote Moon Vineyards is named New York Winery of the Year at the New York International Wine Competition. This prestigious competition, held in New York City, is the first major international wine competition with trade only judges comprised of sommeliers, restaurant owners, hotel beverage directors, top retail store buyers, distributors, and importers. This means that compared to other wine competitions, these judges hold true purchasing power and are some of the most vested individuals to the wine industry; the awards and accolades presented at the New York International Wine Competition are therefore a ringing endorsement from these industry professionals of what the consumer wants. This year, Coyote Moon Vineyards stood out among the 1,200 wines from over 25 countries that were judged in the competition and took home, not only the title of New York Winery of the Year, but also 3 Gold Medals for Dry Rose, Fire Boat White, and Cherry Bomb in addition to 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal.

Coyote Moon Vineyards was also awarded 13 medals from the San Francisco International Wine Competition that took place over the weekend. Among the 13 awards, Coyote Moon's Moscato was awarded Double Gold and Fire Boat White and Cherry Bomb received Gold Medals. The San Francisco International Wine Competition is the largest international wine competition in America, and arguably one of the most influential; the fact that Coyote Moon Vineyards was awarded 13 medals at this prestigious competition speaks volumes to the quality of Coyote Moon wines. Coyote Moon Vineyards has been consistently winning awards from wineries, coast to coast, proving that New York wines are just as prestigious as wines from more traditional wine regions.

Not only is Coyote Moon winning wines throughout the country, but also right at home. The Great New York State Food and Wine Festival was in Clayton this past weekend and Coyote Moon took home two Gold People's Choice Awards for Moscato and Fire Boat Red. "We didn't start out making wine to win awards, we started out making wines the consumer would like," comments Phil Randazzo, Owner and Winemaker at Coyote Moon. "That's why it's so encouraging to win consumer choice awards like the People's Choice Gold Medal for Moscato and Fire Boat Red; it proves our initial purpose wasn't lost, and we are still making great wine our consumers love."

Based on the 779 awards presented to Coyote Moon Vineyards in the past 6 years, it's safe to say that both consumers and wine professionals across the country appreciate the wine that's being produced from this New York State winery.
