Excitement, Romance, Award-Winning Wine and Howlin’ Good Times at Coyote Moon Vineyards

Valerie Hickman

Most people passing by Coyote Moon Vineyards on East Line Road in Clayton, New York cannot help but be drawn in by the “Excitement, Romance, & Award-Winning Wine.”  From the picturesque, thriving, 20-acre vineyard to the hand-crafted bandstand and beautiful stone patio replete with comfy sofas and chairs, guests find the romantic atmosphere…well, irresistible.  Equally irresistible are the smiling faces of Coyote Moon Vineyards’ owners and staff who will do their ‘Howlinest’ to make your visit personal and memorable … and that’s just the day-to-day!

If the day-to-day atmosphere sounds tempting, make sure and stop by during one of the many festivals for an all-out howlin’ goodtime! The Randazzos, owners of Coyote Moon, definitely know how to throw a party.  Whether Coyote Moon is hosting a fundraiser or their anniversary party, fun is never in short supply.

Coyote Moon has hosted several fundraisers this year including the Annual Old-Fashioned Community Shore Dinner, donating all proceeds to the Thousand Islands Museum.  Shore dinners are a staple of the North Country and are hard to pass up.  On July 20th, hundreds of guests gathered at Coyote Moon to experience Jeff and Julie Garnsey’s traditional shore dinner.  The guests were delighted to delve into fresh caught fish, corn-on-the-cob, salt potatoes, and deep-fried french toast smothered in maple syrup, and at the same time donate to a wonderful cause.  While satiating their hunger, guests hummed along to the Foggy River Band who serenaded their guests with sweet bluegrass melodies, adding an extra element of excitement to an already-fantastic event.

On the following weekend, the Randazzos celebrated Coyote Moon Vineyards’ third anniversary with their Howl at the Moon Festival.  There was something for everyone at the Festival.  Howling filled the air as party goers ran through the bouncy house obstacle course, went on hayrides, pet the alpacas, or simply shopped at the more than 30 farmer’s market vendors in attendance.  Everyone stocked up on a wonderful variety of goods and treated themselves to the cornucopia of delicious food, including Pickle Barrel barbeque, Johnny D’s, and La Mont’s Food Fair.

Speaking of satisfying tastebuds, Coyote Moon offered tastings all day of their award-winning wines and wine slushies.  To accommodate the crush of Coyote Moon fans, both tasting rooms were in full effect.  The traditional wine-tasting room was hootin’ and  howlin’ inside while guests enjoyed wine tasting and slushies outside under the big white tent.

To accompany the delectable award-winning wine, delicious food, and fabulous market wares, three live bands jammed all day. The Foggy River Band, Bill and the Bad Husbands Band, and Double Barrel Blues Band played a variety of music that everyone enjoyed.
