Coyote Moon Vineyards Strikes Liquid Gold
Since opening its doors in 2009, Coyote Moon Vineyards’ award-winning wines have been striking gold in competition after competition.  Coyote Moon has quickly earned the reputation as being one of New York State’s most award-winning wineries, winning medals in both national and international competitions.  Recently, Coyote Moon Vineyards’ award-winning wines earned Coyote Moon and the North County well-deserved recognition with impressive wins from across the country.

In November 2012, the American Wine Society hosted its annual National Commercial Wine Competition in Portland, Oregon.  According to the American Wine Society, “[t]he Commercial Competition is one of the oldest and most respected competitions in the United States and…provide[s] national recognition among both consumers and wine industry professionals…..”  The Finger Lakes Wine Gazette Winter 2012 edition noted that this year at the American Wine Society’s Commercial Wine Competition New York wineries earned 124 awards; including two “Best of Class” awards, two “Double Gold” awards, and 17 gold and 57 silver medals.  An excellent showing for the New York wineries and it speaks volumes to New York wineries’ winemaking capabilities.

Coyote Moon Vineyards led the pack bringing home the most awards of all the New York wineries with 11 medals.  Including two gold medals and one highly coveted “Best of Class” award with its River Run Rose taking “Best of Class Rose.”  Naked Chardonnay earned a gold medal while Brianna, Marquette, Casa Papa Red, River Time, Fire Boat White, La Crescent, Frontenac Gris, and Frontenac all earned silver medals.  It was a humbling experience and a wonderful way to end 2012 for Coyote Moon Vineyards and its owners, the Randazzo Family.

Last year at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, Marquette earned the prestigious “Best of Class.” Fire Boat Red took gold and
La Crescent, Brianna, Frontenac , and Twisted Sister garnered.  Also at the Chronicle Competition River Run and River Time earned bronze.  The San Francisco Chronicle’s Wine Competition is “largest competition of American Wines in the world.” Each year over 5,500 wines are entered into the competition to be evaluated by over 65 judges.  In 2012, Coyote Moon Vineyards made a strong showing with its awards.  The 2013 competition proved just as successful for Coyote Moon Vineyards.  Once again, Coyote Moon Vineyards garnered several medals, including three “Best of Class” awards” at the San Francisco Chronicle’s Wine Competition. Casa Papa Red, La Crescent, and Fire Boat Red claimed “Best of Class” titles.  La Crescent and Fire Boat Red went on to compete in the “sweepstakes round” against all the “Best of Class” winners.  Frontenac, Twisted Sister, Marquette, River Run Rose, and Fire Boat White took silver medals and French-oaked Chardonnay, Naked Chardonnay, River Time, and Frontenac Gris brought home bronze medals.

Such prestigious accolades earn recognition for not only Coyote Moon Vineyards, but also the North Country.  The North Country is gaining ground as not only wine country, but also award-winning wine country.
