Two couples tied the knot in Clayton early on New Year's Day.
The St. Lawrence River couples and long-time friends said their "I do"s at the stroke of midnight, hoping to become the first married couples of 2014.

The intimate ceremony was held at Coyote Moon Vineyards' lounge in downtown Clayton.

After their vows, the brides and grooms had their traditional cake-cutting and toasted to a great new year together.

"It's a new year, it's a new beginning," Jeff Diehl said. "Everything's very nice up here. The area's great. We had a nice snowstorm today."

"It was a white wedding," his wife, Karen, said.

"We just love it," Steve Brink said.

"This is our spot," Mary Brink said.

"We just couldn't think of a better place than up here in Clayton," Steve Brink said.

The couples were presented with certificates making them honorary citizens of Clayton.
